Gary Gerstenblith

Gary Gerstenblith Core Leader, Research Education Component

Dr. Gary Gerstenblith is professor of medicine and director of clinical trials in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Division of Cardiology. He also serves as attending physician in r the Cardiology care Unit.

Dr. Gerstenblith earned his undergraduate degree from New York University and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After working at the National Institute on Aging and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and completing a fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Dr. Gerstenblith joined the faculty of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Gerstenblith conducts clinical trials in patients with cardiovascular disease. His research interests include the impact of cardiovascular aging on cardiac structure and function, and the use of stem cells to repair damaged cardiac muscle. He has published nearly 250 articles and book chapters and has been a referee for numerous journals including CirculationThe New England Journal of Medicine and The Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
